UFOs

After the craziness of the first 5 months of the year, I felt like I needed a little break from the bench.  So, I decided it was the perfect time to tackle some UFOs.

In beading parlance, that means “unfinished objects” – usually something you’ve stashed in a box or drawer.  In my case, recently, it was because I just was too busy to sit and bead.  Sometimes, though I find I’m in the home stretch and I just get tired of working away on the SAME darn thing!  Beading is time consuming, especially the beadweaving I do with seed beads.  (Stringing beads is a different matter – that goes quickly.)

I made good headway – I finished 3 pieces (and made the color challenge brooch) in short order!

This is my interpretation of a traditional design that was demonstrated at one of the Niagara Bead Society meetings. They made a purse, I made a brooch! As well, my understanding is that traditionally the bird is white on an unbeaded background. Hmmmm - that doesn't really sound like me, does it!

I started this necklace at some point this winter. I really enjoy bead embroidery (and purple), but my other obligations got in the way of finishing. So, it's nice to finish it!

I just love this color combination! I started this freeform cuff bracelet...... last year??!! Yikes. Anyhow, once I started working in it again I had no idea why I had put it down (and into the drawer).

A closer view of the pattern I made in this bracelet. I'm very happy with how it turned out!

I hope to keep up the momentum over the next couple of weeks – even though I’m getting ready for a show.

Alright, back to the grindstone….
