Dreaming of tidal pools

With this heat and, today, humidity, I’m hankering for the seashore.  Specifically, the kind of beach I grew up by with interesting rocks and driftwood – and if I was lucky a great tidal pool.  It can be hot on a Vancouver Island beach, but there is always the ocean to cool you off and often there is a lovely breeze coming off the ocean.  That sounds great doesn’t it!

Beach at Aylard's farm section of East Sooke Park - I spent a lot of time at this park when I was a teenager!

A tidal pool at Point No Point, also the west side of the island just a little further up. Seaweed, mussels and ocean tumbled stones - maybe there's a crab hiding in the rocks!

I find that the coast often influences my designs – sometimes obviously, sometimes not.  Here are a couple of fun takes on tidal pools…

Maybe you’re enjoying a day at the beach!  I hope so!

  1. Valerie, I know those spots well (East Sooke and Point-no-Point)!! I love how you have incorporated the tidal pool theme into some of your jewelry pieces. Your work is really lovely! : )
